Here is the first part in the coverage of the actual Nostalgic 2 Days show. Nostalgic Hero always has a row of cars that have graced it`s cover over the past year on the left side of the hall. Below is the rare 432 Fairlady Z, pretty much the most sought after of all the Z cars. It used the Skyline S20 engine and had a bunch of other performance upgrades

Sitting next to that was this pristine Hakosuka from Protec

Toyota also brought out the big guns with their original speed trial 2000GT. You can see that the headlight covers were riveted shut and holes were cut in the hood, i am not sure if this was done for easier access to the oil cap or because it hit the hood? Maybe a Toyota fanatic can enlighten me. also notice the lexan glass wind breakerYou can also see the Toyota 7 race car next to it but i will be featuring that at a later time

Star Road always brings out great cars to the show, this year they had a maroon Z with carbon fenders and black anodized lip work equips. The paint on this thing was truly amazing

Wakamatsu`s 180sx Running GP sports Type II Aero

Itai would make it into the top 10 putting some of the local Nikko drivers to shame, the guy only drove the course 2 times prior to this event! When this was printed Hot Road had just released their 180SX aero which Itai would later use and pretty much make internet famous.

On the second floor there was a couple of rows of exotics, Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini that belonged to a few of the tenants but none could top this, and yes the rims are crystal lined

A little further down the row the Bay Side Crew cars were sitting pretty

A very rare site for sure were these 2 240RS`s fully caged and looking like they were about to hit up a rally or two

Like JCCA i knew the real action for the Nostalgic 2 Days meet was going to be in the basement of the Yokohama Pacifico. While no where near as big as JCCA this event offers up plenty of kyusha action. Taking the elevator down to the basement i was greeted by the Biko Works 110. It is pretty funny to think that this same car was in the show last year.

I must apologize for the quality of the pictures, the basement was very dark and i was shooting without flash so everything is pretty grainy.

Below is a very clean Chaser sitting on a set of SSR Star Sharks

No Front grill. On the dash is a temp plate, owners can basically register the car for a week and take it to events. Not originally intended for that purpose but i works.

What would you choose? coupe or sedan?

GX`s were also a pretty common site, this one had a very nice set of XR4s

I was looking through my hard drive and i found some pics i never posted of JCCA 2011. The morning started off BEAUTIFUL, a crisp clean February morning with the sun shining down. This was before i had the silvia so i took the train to get there. This is what half the JCCA lot looked like by around 7. What can you see?

Walking down the stairs from the station this was one of the first shots i snapped... gotta love the surf line

The Biko Works Hakosuka was parked right near the entrance, still partially shaded by the surrounding office buildings

There was a line of C10s... no door mirrors here

As the day wore on clouds started to appear overhead

The Phalanx Z and the Europas were looking all sexy under overcast skies

Cars started to head home the skies got darker (insert pun about Nissan Sunny here)...

and about 1 minutes later at around 3:30... SNOW...being as conditions were less than ideal i packed up and jumped on the train home

Here is the last part of JCCA coverage which basically is some of the cars i saw on my way back from the show

First is this roadster... being a Miata owner myself i had to snap this. Ultra rare Barchetta front bumper, Hayashis, Vitaloni mirrors and blue soft top

I saw this B110 sunny at Nismo Festival an thought it deserved another click

JCCA 2012 Part 14

Part 14 covers a couple cars from inside the show, honestly i pretty much seen all these cars before and the crowd was huge so i only spent about 20 minutes walking around inside

Here is an awesome Fairlady roadster, i believe the owner takes the car out on the track once in a while

Carbon fitted Z, this one had a CF hood, flares and front bumper all in carbon. Looks pretty tough

I went to the back lot behind the show and there was this Z sitting on TE37Vs, it is a nice change from banana spokes.

Coming back to the show this was a real WTF moment, a Drag Mazda Porter! Yes, it is real. You must need some balls of steel to run this thing down the quarter mile with shut a short wheel base. I should have asked the guys around it if look at the car more closely and get a shot of the engine but i didn`t... hindsight is always 20/20

Lastly Body Shop Happy was there as they are every year with their Europas... all the colors of the rainbow.

Here is a really nice Corona, only saw 2 or 3 of these at the show

Next we have a twin turbo Mark II, it has the common under spoiler that many of the GXs run... i wish this picture had less noise in it :(

It had a bunch of Showa style stickers on the rear window... Kyusha sticker bombing lol

Next there it this pair of KGC210s aka `Skyline Japan` running race slicks in the back

Last we have a AE86 Levin on TE37s, this one might be supercharged because of the scoop on the hood... i have seen a couple other supercharged Levins and a lot of them had the same scoop... also i played a lot with the highlight and shadow on this last picture, something i normally don`t do, the effect is pretty interesting.

If you haven`t seen this short film/ commercial from Subaru that features the BRZ you need to watch this now! I was choked up in 2 minutes and it will make you feel awesome at the end.. You don`t need to understand Japanese to understand this commercial, it is that well written.

Made in Japan/ Only in Japan... it probably would have been more fitting if it was a RX-7 (you gotta know gundam) instead of the Celica but i ain`t complaining

Been pretty busy lately so this update is small. This Toyota Sport 800 was sitting pretty, Toyota brought back the 86 they should bring back the 800 too...

Last we have this old Soarer sitting on Formula Mesh and slammed pretty good. It doesn`t look like it from the side but this thing has some serious stretch in the back.

Good morning,

Ready for part 9?

First we have a silver S30. The owner went and left the Z nose black so it helps to add some really nice contrast. also he is running carbon fiber flares, a good mix of past and present. i think if he had gunmetal Watanabes instead of gold it would really bring the whole car together even better.

Here is another clean combination, a XX Celica on red MKIIs on sticky Direzza Z1s

I must appologize for getting only 3/4 shots, since this is a parking lot there isn`t much room to shoot.

Check out this ULTRA clean hachi ichi on gunmetal Wats, simple is definitely best.

Here is one car that should have been at the top of the awesome list, the Biko Works C110 running Work CR01s... BUT please fix the fuggin hood! If you are going to be spending near $40k on one please take 5 minutes and fix that... it is driving me crazy when i look at it.

This car makes up for it though, a pristine TE27

or how about another Laurel SGX this time on Rotas.... oh i mean Hayashis

JCCA 2012 Part 8

I had to do a little research on this one, it`s a Mazda Luce Legato. Even though this car had the old gurachan styling i just couldn`t bring myself to like this one. I really don`t think the front with its stacked headlights and grill suit the car but this was 1977 we are talking about here. Although everything past the grill and headlights is golden.

Parked next to it though was another Luce this one a 1974 coupe (aka RX-4). I dunno what the designers were thinking in those three years from taking a sporty 2 door coupe and turning it into a big ass luxury sedan

I like this shot, you have the Luce, a 610 Bluebird, Laurel SGX and Celica all in one

Check out this S13, for a moment i thought i time traveled back to 1992, it is running longchamps and a huge `wangan` wing. he also had some victory pipes.

the Chaser next to him had the silvia`s pipes beat by about 2 feet though... must be interesting to catch a ride in this taxi.

There were numerous hachi rokus at the event as well, this one was had the 3m carbon overl..... oh wait those are real carbon fiber fenders, hood, sides, valence, wing and mirrors all sitting on a set of feathery CE28Ns according to the side decal it has a 5 valve under the hood as well.

lastly here is another GX71 with the shark nose and Epsilon meshies

JCCA 2012 Part 7: Mizuno Works

Mizuno Works, is a shop in Saitama prefecture and is known for making fiberglass parts like over fenders, chin spoilers and ducktail wings for cars like the Hakosuka, Sunny and Fairlady. Some of the best cars in the lot were sporting Mizuno Works window banners , i felt i should dedicate a post to 3 of their cars since they were some of the most amazing and jaw dropping creations i had ever seen.

First is this TE47 Sprinter Trueno GT rare even by Japan standards. Running a 2TG with Solex carbs, mounted to a 5 speed manual, aftermaket suspension and banded 13 inch stealies. This car is actually for sale and can be yours for Y980,000 or around $12,250usd.

Next is this white KE35 Corolla running N2 type flares and widened steel rims. It also looks to be running a Mizuno Works roll cage. It has a nice side exit exhaust... must be ear bleeding loud

Next is what i thought was one of the best cars at the show, this Laurel SGX. Painted a deep deep purple, it was dent free and rust free. The rims were polished ultra deep Shadow Spokes produced by Devil Japan. I have seen used sets upwards of 4k on Yahoo Auctions

I love the old car emblems, the ones on new cars are no where near this cool....

Parked next to the Laurel was this Ken Mary, but by this pointed i had seen so many i didn`t shoot it... i wish i had.

Roaming through the dirt lot you find some amazing photo opportunities like this shot, it pretty much sums up what the parking lot is like

This `Yonmeri` C110 had a constant crowd around it. It is running insanely deep Takechi Project Hart rims

I hope the owner gets that cancer bubbling up around the door fixed soon.

The owner has caged the car and apparently given up use of his rear doors

not really sure what the purpose of the tape near the bead set serves, looking at the tires it looks like he rubs some... a lot of these guys use Advan race slicks or rain tires since no one makes road-going 14s in 255s

Moving to the other parking lot i was greeted with the site of a troop of skylines and sunnys leaving. It was only 11:30 in the morning and the show just started but a lot of cars were already rolling out

I like this shot below, you can see a rusted out 4 door hako in the corner

I love the blacked out headlight covers, they always make the hakosuka look complete business but i guess you`d be screwed if you drove at night
Check out this old Carina (i think it`s a Carina?) on what look like Racing Forge rims... If anyone can confirm the car and rims that would be great

Old SA22C given the works treatment, i think it would look awesome if the owner applied the `renown` graphics from the 787... the car is already orange, just needs some green diamonds. I saw this car driving off while i was eating lunch and loud would be an understatement... more like i went completely deaf for 20 seconds

4 Door Hakosuku sitting pretty on SSR MK3s... I personally like the 4 doors better than the coupes

The great thing about JCCA is there is a wide variety of styling, take for example this Crown it looks straight out of Chip Foose`s design studio. I usually prefer deep dish small wheels on classics but this one just works.

from Big rims on old cars to small rims on newer cars like this JZX90 Mark II running 16 inch Watanabe rims. This combo also works really well

Mitsumori-san from Spirant was also there in his new corolla... yes those are xxr/sportmax rims. Mitsumori-san seems to dig the usdm styling. I guess it is a case of `the grass is always greener on the otherside of the fence`. If you look carefully at the rear window he has a canibeat, illest, and fatlace sticker. He also has a set of Panasport C8s... i really hope he puts them back on.

Here is a text book KPGC110 running Hayashi rims... it doesn`t get much simpler or cleaner than this

Continuing on with the coverage, i saw this sweet olive green KE70 when i was pulling in. It features the timeless Watanabe Type Rs running a good amount of stretch. I also has custom fender work, the owner removed the rear bumper for a nice racing inspired touch. I have seen this car on Minkara before and he tracks it regularly.

Parked a couple spaces down was another Corolla, this one with the old rally look with the roof mounted yellow fogs and a bit dinged up

Then there was this sweet 4 door 510 sporting SSR Star Sharks, i owned a set in the past and i regret selling them

Lastly here are 2 GX71s parked side by side, the first is sporting MK1s and the second has a set of ultra deep Focus Racing fins

JCCA 2012 Part 2

I think the reason i liked walking the parking lot rather than going to the actual show was because there are a lot less people to get in the way of a shot and there is more room to take different angles. In the show they cram the cars in like sardines, a lot of times it even rules out a 3/4ths shot let alone a full side shot. At the back of the lot a bunch of Celica XXs were gathered from early in the morning... this red one was doing the hipari act very well. When it hits a bump it looks like the tire goes on the inside of the fender and the rim on the outside..

This white one on Formula Meshes looked like it just rolled off the dealer floor... ultra clean!

Celica XX owners take meets seriously...

This Bluebird 510 below made me stop for a good 5-10 minutes to admire how well it was built and how rust free it was...

Check out the fender work and the Watanabes! It looks like it was photoshoped but I can assure you it was 100% legit.

This makes the 3rd time i have attended the Japanese Classic Car Association New Years Meet in Odaiba. I did something different this year, instead of focusing on the show itself i spent 90% of my time in the parking lots. If you have never been to the show it is an experience of a lifetime. However, every year it is mostly the same cars. A lot of people enter as clubs so there isn`t much variation from year to year. Knowing this i woke up at the crack of dawn, jumped in the S15 and made the 66km trek to Funenokagakukan. Getting there early is important, many of the sickest rides also come very early and leave the by around 11.
As i arrived the main dirt lot had already been filled up so i rerouted into the second and right in front of me was the Goldrush GX71!

He came rolling on his gold SSR Star Sharks with some of his friends

Very nice GX61 Mark II on Long Champs, a lot of these cars sport the old patrol car stick-on-roof light but they come in funky colors and they put them on the rear speaker deck.
Right behind these guys was a text book KPGC10 Hakosuka, running black Watanabes. What i like most is how cleanly he installed the oil cooler... many guys just zip tie them on but the owner went through the effort to make it look amazing

So i picked up a LS 3.26 Power roof spoiler, i ran out in the dark and test fitted it, i am glad to say that it fits great (unlike the POS D-max side skirts) also got some stickers...gold for the hunnies. i ordered the small and medium `326 power` ones but they are awesome they threw in the Oukan `crown` version one for free! that's a Y1050 value! i really wish they would remake the old red and blue ones too.

Car Sense `pato ka` Crown... This car was one of my favorites at the event. i mean just look at it, it`s ridiculous! A toyota crown dressed in full patrol car livery, lowered to the ground and running insanely wide K-break wheels... I know this is not everyones taste but idgaf.

check out the heaedlights, crystal incrusted with the `kame` kanji (turtle). crazy.... oh and the trade mark VIP green tint.

I like the slogan on the trunk `shounen no kokoro to otona no zairyoku` translated it means `a boy`s heart with adult assets`.

Here is RYO`s Odyvia, fitted with a couple of RYO`s own parts, exhaust, roof shark fin things and i am not sure what else. It also has 17 inch TE37Vs on it. Looks pretty good

While that looks good, this below looks AMAZING, the Spirit Rei Odyvia.

Here is a car that used to be one of my favorites, the N-Style S15. I say `used to` because it had a very nice 326 (i think) front before but the owner decided to go a different route and stick a BMW3-series front on it... (maybe he destroyed the old bumper?) Anyway i still like the two tone on it...the combo works well in my opinion. I know there was a video at Nikko of this car running but i can`t find it anymore... if anyone knows please let me know
